Automobili Lamborghini, makers of iconic super sports cars, has set a new sales record in its history, delivering some 2,530 cars to eager customers around the world through a network of 130 dealerships spread across 48 countries.
The figure is 19 percent more than last year’s deliveries of 2,121 units in what Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann described as a “very satisfying performance” where sales went up in all major markets, the biggest being the United States and China.
The Middle East, along with the United Kingdom, Japan and Germany, Winkelmann said, “each registered significant growth.”
Best selling Lamborghini was the 12-cylinder sports car Aventador LP 700-4 coupé and roadster with 1,128 units delivered last year, a figure that was over 100 units more or 13-percent higher than 2013’s 1,001 deliveries. This also beat existing records for V12 sales in the iconic super sports car maker’s history.
Meantime, 2014 was also the year that saw the Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 unveiled. Shown to the world at the 2014 Paris Mondial de l’Automobile, the Asterion is Lamborghini giving away a glimpse of its future as it is the company’s first plug-in hybrid.
Asterion is a concept car using a plug-in hybrid powertrain, providing a solution to significantly reduce CO2 emissions while maintaining that Lamborghini motoring experience.
Lamborghini’s sales distribution is balanced across three main regions – Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), America and Asia Pacific with each accounting approximately for one-third of global sales.
